Parks & Recreation Commission
The Parks, Recreation and Cemetery Commission of Pendleton (Ordinance No. 2368), better known as the Parks & Recreation Commission, consists of seven members appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by City Council as well as five ex-officio members who serve without vote: the Mayor, the City Manager, a member of the School Board, a member of the Planning Commission, and the Recreation Director. Members of the Parks and Recreation Commission serve 4 year terms expiring in December each year.
The Parks & Recreation Commission is charged with providing suitable rules and regulations for a general program of public recreation for the community; forming policies for the recreation or cultural activities on public playgrounds, indoor recreation centers, and other recreation areas or facilities; submitting a proposed budget each year; and establishing rates of any necessary service charges required for the use of any recreation or park facility.
